Subject: Tax reporting and withholding for California Residents
Dear Property Management Client,
Federal and California Tax laws have been revised recently and we need you to complete an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) form and return it to us before the end of the year.
The IRS considers property managers as tax withholding agents. Unless certain exceptions apply, property managers must file information returns and possibly withhold taxes on rent payments.
In order to determine how much, if any, to withhold, we need to have you complete a W-9 form and return it to us by email, fax or U.S. mail. Without this form, the IRS requires that we withhold the maximum amount. It is therefore to your advantage that you complete this form and return it to us promptly.
